Whitney Houston, RIP

I grew up listening to Whitney.  I spent many hours skating at the roller skating rink to “How will I know” and “I wanna Dance with somebody”.  My best Whitney memory was from 6th grade.  Mrs. Baldwin at Clay Elementary asked us to bring a tape of our current favorite song.  I brought the cassette of “I Will Always Love You” from the Bodyguard soundtrack.  I remember the exact desk that I was sitting in when Mrs. Baldwin played that tape and I remember the room being silent because the song was THAT GOOD.  Any song that will silence a room of 6th graders is the shiz-nit.  What is more amazing is that my memory is almost comparable to an alzheimer’s patient at times (thus why I try to keep things written in my blog), so the fact that this is embedded in my mind astonishes me.

I look forward to DVRing the Grammy’s tonight and watching Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Miss Houston and crying my eyes out.  Sure, Whitney has made some wrong turns in her personal life, but that says nothing about her amazing voice.
